この曲は、もう此処には居ないけれど、ずっと私たちと共にいてくれる坂本龍一さんへ思いを馳せたRequiemです。
音楽の楽しさを伝えてくれた、大切な方への大好きな気持ちを少々感情的に。
多くのインスピレーションを与えてくれる彼の音楽。
孤独で辛い時も生きることを肯定してくれ、心丈夫にそばにいてくれていた。

This Requiem is a tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto, who may no longer be here with us, but whose presence will always be felt in our hearts. It is an emotional expression of love and appreciation for a special person who shared the joy of music with us.

His music has been a tremendous source of inspiration, affirming life even during lonely and difficult times, and providing strength to our hearts.

Ryuichi Sakamoto, may you rest in peace, eternally.

報道があった後、曲を作り始める。
最初のコード感だけ決めて、そこから記憶をたどるように、ぼやぼやと弾きながら曲を考えていく。
わたしは譜面が読めないので、作る時はいつも手を動かして弾きながら、この音楽が求める先の響きを思い描く。
元々は坂本さんが演奏する映像を見ながら、聴こえる音と鍵盤の押す場所を一致させて学んだ子供時代でした。
今回は坂本さんの曲や好きな音楽の記憶、音の響きを求めるままに作ってみる。

Thousand Knivesの好きなコードから始まり、次第にSheltering Skyのようになったり、Technopolis、Seven Samuraiでも聞き慣れた音の響きを見つる。曲全体ではAndataの音の構成を取り、なぞるように、追う。
これまでに受け取った音の響きは宝物です。

Andataが入っているアルバムasyncは、架空のタルコフスキーの映画を意識して作った曲です。
以前、映画ノスタルジアを鑑賞した時のことを思い起こしてみる。今自分が作っているのはレクイエムなんだな。
ああしたい、こうしたいと作り直すうちに数日が経ち、今の形になりました。
淡々とした中に、音に感情が、悲しみが混ざっている感じがする。

Notes:

After hearing the news, I began composing the piece. I started with just a vague idea of the initial chords, and from there, I let my memories guide me as I played the music hazily. I can't read sheet music, so when I create, I always move my hands while playing, envisioning the resonance the music seeks. My childhood was spent learning by watching Sakamoto-san's performances, matching the sounds I heard with the keys being pressed.

This time, I decided to create by following the memories of Sakamoto-san's songs and the music I love, and the resonance of the sounds. Starting with the chords I like from "Thousand Knives," the piece gradually evolved to resemble "Sheltering Sky," incorporating familiar resonances from "Technopolis" and "Seven Samurai." Throughout the piece, I referenced the structure of the sound from "Andata." The resonances I've received so far are treasures.

The album "async," which includes "Andata," is a collection of songs composed with the idea of an imaginary Tarkovsky film in mind. I recall the time when I watched the movie "Nostalgia" and realized that what I'm creating now is a Requiem. As I reworked the piece, wanting to do this or that, several days passed, and it eventually took its current form. Amidst the calmness, I feel emotions and sadness blending into the music.
