My video art “Air” has been selected in the competition for Study: UMEDA URBAN MUSEUM, part of the Osaka Kansai International Art Festival.
It is being shown as one of about 20 works reflecting diverse cultures and social backgrounds.
The venue is LUCUA Osaka, 1F Southwest Show Window (Umeda, Osaka),
on view from September 1 to 30.

そこに乾いた植物の姿があった。数千キロ離れた海面で暖められた空気が上昇し、気圧差によって生じた風が海を越えてこの地に到達する。その流れは上空を通り、地形や温度差に導かれて地上へと降りてくる。乾いた風に揺れ、植物はまた元の位置へ戻る。暗闇に暮らしの灯がともり、その手前に枯れたシルエットが浮かぶ。強い風にも繊維質の命は留まり続け、やがて通りすがりの車が横切った。

There stood a dried plant. Air warmed over the ocean thousands of kilometers away rose, setting in motion winds born of pressure differences. Crossing the sea, the flow passed through the upper atmosphere before descending, guided by terrain and temperature shifts. The dry wind swayed the plant, which always returned to its place. In the darkness, lights of human life glowed, and in front of them the silhouette of the withered stem emerged. However strong the wind, its fibrous body held its ground—until, in a brief moment, a passing car crossed the scene.
